Mallory Marine Ignition Systems

Mallory designed and tested the original marine point type distributors which many marine engine builders supplied as original equipment in boats. New materials and technology have enabled Mallory to improve the performance and reliability of its basic design for today's performance engines.

The Marine YL Series Point Type Distributors can drive both original equipment and high performance ignition coils. For best results always use a Mallory PROMASTER^® Coil Part No. 29440 or Mallory Chrome Ignition Coil Part No. 29217. The Marine YL Series Point Type Distributors are also an excellent choice for triggering the Mallory Marine HYFIRE^® Electronic Ignition Control Part No. 697M.

PERFORMANCE FEATURES:

• Stabilized points eliminates point float and bounce
• high dielectric strength condenser with brass case eliminates corrosion. Mylar insulation provides greater protection against current leaks and shorting
• super-duty cap and rotor; self-lubricating precision bushings.

The Marine MAGNETIC^® Breakerless Electronic System replaces the original equipment marine distributor. The Marine MAGNETIC^® Breakerless Electronic System uses space age technology by incorporating the triggering device and amplifier together as one unit which sits inside the distributor housing. The self contained MAGNETIC^® module assembly has no moving parts to wear out.

Using Mallory's time tested breakerless ignition circuit, combined with modern surface mount Thermal-Clad^® construction, the Marine MAGNETIC^® Breakerless Electronic System can drive both original equipment and high peformance ignition coils.

Mallory's PROMASTER^® Coil delivers higher performance through faster rise time and longer spark duration. A rugged, glass-filled polyester case and oil-filled construction ensure long life with no energy loss from arcing. All promaster^® Coils include threaded brass contact terminals and spark plug type secondary post for better coil wire retention.

High output, 12-volt electronic ignition coils deliver the added voltage required to properly ignite performance marine engines. Oil-filled design and arc-resistant alkyd top provide superior insulation and cooling. This coil is designed for optimum performance with the Mallory Breaker Point Ignition.
